The summer days are dwindling down and everyone is trying to get the most out of the last few sunny days before the clouds and rain hit in the Pacific Northwest. This means outdoor activities and, of course, getting the most out of your summer wardrobe. This also means specifically sporting classic summer attire. This week I spotted a Fashionista doing just so.
The Fashionista makes a case for holding off on our fall wardrobes and embracing a classic summer pattern—florals. While florals may not be “groundbreaking” as Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Presley, said in The Devil Wears Prada, florals are a classic spring/summer pattern. The Fashionista’s three-quarter sleeve dress has a variety of colorful flowers in reds, yellows, blues and purples. On closer inspection, we see the black horizontal lines are actually black lace. She cinches the waist in by adding a black belt with gold metal detail. For a pop of even more color she adds a red purse and finishes the look off with a pair of black heels.
The Fashionista keeps her makeup simple and has her hair in a braid (another summer classic). Sunny days call for pattern and color especially when the cold months are just around the corner. Floral is a pattern that suits everyone and can be integrated into an outfit in many different ways. Whether it’s the main feature on a dress or a small floral print on a backpack, it’s a pattern that is embraced by many.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love florals—they have a romantic, English countryside feel to [them].”
