In this week’s edition of Miss Sinatra takes San Francisco, we are going to talk about rompers. In my last few days in Indiana, I was seeing friends and going on a lot of brunch and lunch dates to catch up with them, which is exactly when I found this Fashionista in downtown Indianapolis.
The one thing that caught my eye was her polka-dot, black and white romper. I had to take a second look because I thought it was a dress at first, which is exactly what is great about this piece of clothing. It’s like an undercover dress and something that allows you to feel dressed up without wearing an actual dress. I like to say “similar to a dress, but you can do cartwheels in it.”
Rompers are trending right now across college campuses, at least in my eyes. I see them when I go to class, paired with a denim jacket like this Fashionista or even a long sweater. I also see them when I go out at night, paired with a statement necklace and some wedges or pumps. Dresses and rompers are the same in the sense that you can find causal ones and more dressy ones. The only difference is that rompers won’t fly up in the wind and show off your cute Victoria’s Secret underwear on your way to class (true story in my life).
This Fashionista has the right idea with her outfit. She was strolling around downtown, probably shopping with friends or eating lunch, so she went for the more casual look. She kept the romper the staple piece by matching it with black high-top Converse, a denim jacket and a simple cross-body bag. She finished off the look with a fun nail color, red lips and a dainty necklace.
Whether it be Indiana or San Francisco, lunch or a night out, rompers are always a good choice. Keep it simple and buy a neutral black romper. That way, you can dress it up with heels and fun jewelry one day and dress it down with a sweater and sandals another day. Overall, rompers are a go-to, and I hope you have one in your closet this summer!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love rompers because they’re perfect for any occasion. From a casual lunch to going out on the town, rompers are an easy go-to piece.”
