Spring is finally here! The new season means that there are so many new trends that I’m looking forward to trying. Bold oranges, soft denim and fringed suede are all big for this spring and summer, and I’m excited to see how all you Fashionistas choose to rock them around campus. With the warmer weather, my legs are itching to see the sun and I’m more than ready to break the skirts and dresses out of the back of my closet. Unfortunately for me, living in Minnesota means that on some spring days this isn’t exactly the most practical attire for the weather, but this Fashionista doesn’t let a little brisk weather stop her from wearing a skirt. She just adds a pair of tights to her look, making it totally Minnesota-ready.
To start her outfit, this Fashionista chooses an open knit top that has a summery vibe, making me daydream of days in June. She tucks this long sleeve shirt into a denim button-up skirt, a style that’s super popular right now and a huge trend for spring. Under this she wears a pair of maroon tights, allowing her to stay warm enough but still show off a little leg. Finally, to complete her look she adds a pair of brown booties that are cute and comfortable for walking to class.
This look is a great example of how adding a pair of tights to an outfit can make it more wearable on slightly colder days. This can work for tons of other occasions, too. Want to wear a cute pair of leather shorts out on a Saturday night? Adding a pair of sheer black tights and heeled booties can give your look a little extra edge. Tights can even add a cool twist to an outfit when paired with a t-shirt dress or some high-waisted denim shorts.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Have an awesome outfit you want to wear but it’s just a little too cold to wear it? Just add tights and you’re golden. A lot of people forget about them once spring rolls around, but tights can be a great option for lots of looks.”
