STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Just Because

People always ask this Fashionisto why he’s so dressed up. His response? “Just because.” No, he’s not going to a job interview or a fancy event; he just likes to look good…and to twirl his yo-yo around. Hey, I can’t blame him. There are lots of perks to wearing nice clothes. I mean, you already know that you look good, but you’ll also feel good, and you might turn some heads on your way to class. So in the wise words of Hilary Duff, “Why not?”

Now this Fashionisto knows what he’s doing. He has got it all down to a simple method. He sports formal wear on top and goes more casual on the bottom in order to create a perfect medium. That way, he’s not too dressed up or too dressed down. So fellas, if you’ve got a button-down hiding in your closet, dust it off and wear that baby! Whip out a skinny tie, too. They’re waiting for you. All you have to do is sport a pair of chinos, and when it comes to the kicks, well, that’s up to you. Like this Fashionisto, you can stomp around campus in your favorite pair of Chuck Taylors or Vans for an impromptu skate session (hence the hole in his sneaker). You’re not limited to that uncomfortable pair of dress shoes.

Have some fun by wearing a watch. You already know you’ll look classy when the girl next to you asks for the time. But all jokes aside, I’ve found that it’s so much easier to wear a watch than to constantly pull out your phone. Yes, it might dress up the look a bit more, but so what? It’s practical, and you can always accessorize with other casual items if you’re worried. For instance, throw on a casual parka like this Fashionisto. With that, the chinos and the sneakers, you definitely won’t be overdressed; as cliché as it sounds, you’ll just be dressed to impress. So don’t sweat it, guys. You’ve got this.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you have dress shirts, don’t be afraid to wear them. Don’t save them for formal occasions. Incorporate them into casual wear.”
