To chevron or not to chevron? This popular zig-zag pattern dates as far back as 1800 BC. First used by the Greeks in pottery and rock carvings, chevron was reintroduced to the modern-day public by high fashion designer and acclaimed “chevron master” Missoni. Although used frequently by the designer in the past, the chevron trend truly took off with Missoni’s decision to create a low-cost line of products for Target in 2011. The triangular print has since become one of the most mass-produced patterns in the world!
But how do we revive this mega-trend before it becomes passé once again? In Michele’s opinion, the answer is simple: “The pattern itself is so simplistic, it’s not difficult to find clever interpretations that revive the print and make it feel fresh.” Her white and royal blue aztec-inspired palazzo pants do just that. By adding a variety of intricate detail to the chevron pattern. the designer successfully produced a fabulous pair of wide-legged pants that embrace the classic print in a refreshing way.
Chevron has become both a trend and a tradition. Before you count this tenacious pattern out, try the “less is more” approach by pairing the print with trendy pieces like this Fashionista’s simple tassel necklace and basic crop top. Rich colors like blue and gold also contribute to the overall glamour of this resort-ready ensemble.
