STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Knotted

Most of us went through elementary school and middle school knotting our oversized T-shirts. Let’s be honest, we thought we were really cool. There was something about altering our clothing we thought was rebellious and awesome, but not altering it so much that our parents got mad. However, this style trend did not always look the best. The big sleeves and cinched waist look oddly proportioned.

The knot detail, however, is making a comeback. This time, it is more sophisticated. You can see them on the sleeves of shirts, as a detail on shoes, or even a twisted crop top. They are an excellent way to add texture to an outfit. If your wardrobe is more minimalistic, a knotted detail is a great way to incorporate a new element without being over the top.

Although this Fashionista’s knot in her T-shirt is subtle, it adds a cool vibe to her outfit without her looking like an awkward middle schooler. It is tied just right, not too tight nor too loose. It also shows off a perfect amount of skin for a warm spring day. A burnt orange sweater is essential for transitioning between winter and spring. Her Birkenstock sandals and denim keep the outfit casual. Ray-Ban Mirror Aviator sunglasses are a great addition for a sunny spring day!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Adding a knot to a plain white T-shirt can spice up a simple outfit. Also, pairing it with a colored cardigan will tie together a comfortable outfit for class.”
