Who would’ve thought lace and black ripped jeans would go together like peanut butter and jelly? Well this Fashionista definitely pulled it off! When we think of lace we think dainty or Victoria Secret Angels strutting down the runway half naked. When we think edgy we think ripped jeans, dark makeup or jammin’ at a rock ‘n’ roll concert. So now what are we supposed to think?
Oddly enough, edgy and dainty seem to be an upcoming trend in spring leading into summer. Coachella is a hub for this new trend. We often see ripped denim, bodysuits and chokers made from lace which give off Free People vibes at the festival. However, this Fashionista wasn’t vibing her way through the Coachella desert, but simply walking the streets of Santa Monica in her lavish, lace kimono. The knit fabric and floral design contains immense detail without looking too over the top. The color white allows the garment to be worn with multiple outfits by adding a subtle pizazz to any look. Miu Miu’s spring 2016 collection has this similar feel.
So how did this Fashionista tie in the edge? She paired it with high-waisted ripped Levi’s and a simple black tank top. As she keeps her basics neutral, she adds a bold, gold choker and lariat necklace that complements the kimono as her main element. Since her basics are black, the white lace makes it perfect for a summer afternoon. The retro American Rag black ring purse is an essential accent that ties the look together.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love minimalistic looks, but also statement pieces. I’ve worn this lace kimono with a variety of times because it’s a perfect touch to any outfit.”
