STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lighten Up

It’s finally here—springtime! After a long, dragging winter, it’s finally starting to feel a little more like spring. The air feels lighter, the days are longer (thanks to Daylight Savings!) and temperatures have finally reached above 40 degrees here at The College of New Jersey. I think that this calls for a celebration…or at least some lighter layers. This Fashionista is here to show us just how to do so to adjust for the changing of the seasons.

Since everyone knows how temperamental the spring weather can be, dressing in layers is key. It can be 30 degrees in the mornings but be in the 50’s by lunchtime, so it’s best not to leave the house too bundled up. Layering is the best thing to do to avoid feeling uncomfortable in the inconsistent temperatures. This week’s Fashionista swapped her boots for ankle booties and her winter coat for a chic lightweight jacket.

Her turtleneck is a great layering piece to wear underneath her jacket since the weather is still on the chilly side. Her harem pants were also a great option to wear for the springtime since they won’t be too heavy if the weather warms up throughout the day. The solid turtleneck and pants combination also looks perfect when paired with her camouflage jacket, which pulls together the black and neutral colors perfectly. And lastly, she accessorized with some edgy yet simple jewelry, and a backpack for class!
