In men’s fashion, velvet is a fairly new trend that stemmed from the ’60s and ’70s. In the ’90s, we saw Gucci bring back this sexy trend with a slew of smoking jackets. Men incorporating this trend into their wardrobes is one of the best things that could have happened to men’s fashion in the 2000s.
Every time I find a stylish man on campus, I basically swoon. When it comes to my love for fashion, I am not sexist. I do not limit myself when it’s time to scroll through collections. I admire it all. So you know when I came across this Fashionisto I could not pass up the chance to make him my next subject.
This Fashionisto takes his velvet seriously. He coordinates his perfectly tailored blazer with velvet shoes. The rich blue of his blazer is what first caught my eye.The luscious blue itself has become a prevalent trend in the autumn and winter seasons. He keeps the look layered with gray slacks and a black tie. This is where the Fashionisto makes his own rules—he shows an unconventional look by not matching the pants and tie. He even accessorizes with a stunning masculine watch that adds just the right amount of bling to the look. As already mentioned, his slippers with peanut butter soles helps him make a dapper impression. Shoes are any Fashionisto’s greatest accessory, and did I mention they are velvet? I love this velvety goodness on men, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Fashionista putting a feminine touch on his look.
