As summer comes to a close, and the first breezes of fall drift through campus I can’t help but relish the chance to begin unpacking my cold weather wardrobe. There is something about a great pair of jeans and an oversized sweater that is undeniably good for the soul. One aspect I particularly love about fall fashion is the ability to create unique looks by mixing pattern and textures. Layering is not only the perfect solution to a brisk fall morning, but it is also a beautiful way to showcase several of my favorite fall staples at once.
This trend is unique because of it’s ability to remain a staple of the preppy wardrobe for generation after generation of women and men. Layering is timeless and perhaps most often executed with a classic button-down oxford or flannel tucked neatly under a warm pullover sweater. It’s fun to play with mixing color and texture when choosing which sweaters and button ups best complement each other. Layering provides you warmth during those brisk fall walks to class, while keeping you looking neat and pulled together.
This Fashionista layered up on a rainy Saturday in a classic navy and white gingham button down and a grey pullover paired with crisp white skinny jeans. I love her attention to detail in her pretty but understated statement necklace, and a tortoise shell wrist watch. The look was tied to together with tall leather riding boots, and a pop of pink in her adorable umbrella.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Layering doesn’t have to be boring! Play with pattern, color and accessories in your wardrobe to reflect your own unique perspective!”
