Great style doesn’t have to be complicated. Minimalist dressing and the normcore trend have risen in popularity in the last few years, and they show no signs of stopping soon. I think that a less fussy, more pared down approach to fashion will become a defining trademark of style in the 2010s.
So, just how do you meld the minimalist and normcore trends with your personal style without losing your individuality in a sea of black, gray and navy? The answer lies in the details. Wear a shirt with a patterned pocket, pair the neutral color palette with fun polka-dot socks and get some comfortable tennis shoes with a personality of their own.
Whatever you do, don’t forget to accessorize. Belts, bracelets and glasses all add visual interest and personalize the outfit. If you didn’t realize already, starting with great basics and changing up accessories gets you an insane amount of outfits with relatively few pieces. Invest in quality basics and wear them for years!
Along with the normcore trend have come the tennis shoes, so take advantage of that and be comfortable! Adidas seems to be every Fashionista’s go-to tennis shoe, but I’ve seen a lot of bloggers rocking New Balance and Superga as well. That being said, these aren’t rules. Find a pair that suits your style; there is something for everyone.
