When summer rolls around and dress season is in full bloom, most people gear toward long, maxi dresses or shorter sundresses. I don’t blame them; they’re easy, comfortable and carefree. However, this summer, the Fashionista featured decided to throw caution to the wind and stray from the pack. This season, her go-to dress is not a maxi or a mini dress. She chose one quite literally in-between the two: The midi dress.
Bunched up a little around her waist, the Fashionista’s dress falls right at her knee. The great thing about midi dresses is their versatility in length. Depending on how one vertically stretches out the fabric of the midi, the length at which the dress will hit you is completely adaptable. For example, this Fashionista’s midi dress falls at her knee, but another Fashionista could prefer a mid-calf length; thankfully, both are obtainable.
The Fashionista ties the look together with high-top Converse sneakers and Ray-Ban sunglasses. As far as accessories go, the Fashionista kept it simple and is wearing a vintage denim jacket tied around her waist.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like how the midi length works regarding my height. I’m average height, but sometimes I feel like I’m drowning in maxi length dresses. The midi length is very versatile; there’s more fabric that can be pulled up if necessary and it also provides a way to wear something longer without fully committing to the maxi length. With tighter fitting or shapeless dresses, I like to wrap a jacket around my waist. Doing this accentuates your waistline or covers up places you may not be comfortable showing.”
