Last winter, a trend that used to be regarded as a conventional fashion faux pas turned into a runway hit that designers, style bloggers and Fashionistas could not get enough of. I’m talking about the monochrome trend; not just black on black, but red on red, green on green and gray on gray, too! Putting together a monochromatic outfit can be a little intimidating and difficult for people that have never tried it out before, but once you get the hang of putting the right pieces together, it’s the simplest way to instantly look chic and sophisticated. If you’re thinking that this trend only works for females, you’re wrong! Let’s let this Fashionisto show us how men can rock the monochrome look just as well.
Okay, so first things first. The most important rule in creating a fashionable monochromatic look is pairing pieces in different shades of the same color. For example, this Fashionisto is wearing dark blue shorts with a lighter blue button-up. To take it to the next level, the blue print on his shirt is actually a blue shade that is not as light as the top and not as dark as the shorts (right in the middle actually). This is an awesome touch that makes the look that much more interesting.
Now, if you wanted to, you could even make this look that much more monochromatic by adding a dark blue shoe. To keep it a little more reserved, however, this Fashionisto chose to play it safe with a pair of black Vans. He finished off the look with a classic pair of Ray-Bans.
This outfit is perfect for the rest of this summer season, but the monochrome trend can be carried over into the winter by men and even intensified by trying things like pairing monochromatic sweaters over button-ups with pants in the same color family.
