Everyone knows the summer season is the high point for all things nautical style. So, how does one dress the part without looking like a cliché blue and white striped boatman? This Fashionisto shows you how by switching up the color pallet. This Fashionisto’s outfit is the perfect hybrid of preppy and nautical. Not only is he able to pull off this patterned mixture, but he does so in a “real man’s” color—pink.
The short sleeved, collared button-up is a necessity for any guy’s semi-formal summer attire. Here, this Fashionisto kept it casual by leaving the top button unbuttoned and pairing it with some printed khaki shorts. The horse print on the khaki shorts, along with the color of the button-up, is what gives off the preppy effect. Yet, the above-the-knee length of the shorts, the Sperry Top-Siders and the anchor printed socks keep the outfit rooted in nautical-esque vibes.
For my Fashionistas out there who identify with having a preppy style, this attire can easily be adopted into your wardrobe as well. Stores also carry similar patterned shorts for females. To complete the look you could pair it with a solid colored blouse or button-up shirt. This will balance out the busy pattern on the bottom. Add a pair of classic colored heels or flats, and don’t forget to accessorize!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Guys tend to shy away from the prints, but shorts can be an easy way to amp it up. If preppy style isn’t your thing, there are also some cool graphic printed shorts out there.”
