It seems like this week has mainly been focused on work. Finding an outfit that can be considered appropriate for work and cute at the same time can sometimes be a challenge. I like to have some type of pattern or fun element in my neutral colored work outfits. Having a solid color as a top or bottom allows for a fun counterpart without being too bold for a professional environment.
In this piece, a black pencil skirt is paired with a patterned white top. By adding a subtle pattern, the outfit now has a little bit of flair. I really am liking pencil skirts at the moment, because they can be dressed up or down. In this case, the outfit is not necessarily casual, but it is not super dressed up either. Pairing pencil skirts with short booties like this Fashionista did can dress an outfit down while still looking put together. This look still needed to be somewhat on the nicer side, so the silver and gold leaf necklace spiced up the look a bit.
I have seen quite a few people rocking pencil skirts recently. The pencil skirt can be quite versatile, since it can be dressed up or down. They are easy to take from day to night just by changing one simple thing about the outfit. I think my next pencil skirt will most definitely be a midi skirt, maybe even a Burberry one. That’s the dream, anyway!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to wear outfits that are simple but also have an air of uniqueness to them. Wearing an outfit you wouldn’t really see on the street is what appeals to me. Pencil skirts are very fashionable right now, but most people would wear them to work with heels and a blazer. I wanted to dress mine down and add a little bit of flair.”
