Cold winter weather is definitely here at Kent State University, and that means Fashionistas and Fashionistos are pulling out all their coats, scarves and hats to make the trek across campus. However, the real struggle comes when trying to find an outfit that works well against the cold outside, but doesn’t make you too hot when you come back in. It can be easy to just layer up in our favorite pair of leggings and a sweatshirt, throw on some snow boots and call it a day, but we can still keep our winter wear stylish.
I personally feel that keeping our winter threads simple is the way to go when figuring out what to wear out in the freezing temperatures. Adding a simple statement to an outfit, however, is one great way to spice it up. You’ll be looking RAD walking around campus even though you might think the wind will blow you away at any second.
This Fashionista definitely took this advice, sporting a simple pair of dark wash denim jeans along with loose fitting long sleeve black top. She added a pair of black Chelsea boots along with this bold plaid scarf to pull it all together. The bright blue, red and white really pop with the outfit, and can easily be adjusted when coming inside if the temperatures ever feel too hot.
When it comes to dressing for winter, especially while still at school, it’s easy to dress simple for class while looking chic, too. You can never go wrong with rocking simple denim and long sleeve sweater or shirt look—especially with a statement piece like a scarf or hat. After all, this Fashionista told me that all you need is one standout piece to pull a look together!
