As winter is officially among us, and the holidays have passed, we find ourselves asking, “What more do I have to dress for?” While some may find that answer difficult to acquire, we know the easiest one—life. Just because there is technically no longer family or friends to dress up for, it is still important to clean up well.
I know getting out of bed when your heat is broken is hard. I know it is even harder to get dressed before having your morning cup of coffee. But the hardest thing of all is going through your day unhappy due to the way you chose to put yourself together. So to begin this new year off in a way you would never expect, actually change (out of your sweats)!
Comfort tends to take precedent over “beauty hurts” come time of snow, but why not kill two birds with one stone? If you are seeking a look that still catches of the eye of the boy you like in Econometrics, while still staying warm and snug, a vest may just be your answer this season.
Why would this be a smart investment? To begin, a vest adds flavor, even when you hate everything staring back at you in your closet (don’t worry if that is every other day for you, I promise it gets better). If your jeans are still being washed, but you simply cannot settle for wearing leggings and a sweatshirt to class, throw on a vest and some black riding boots, and watch your look transform in the mirror.
Now that the answer is clear, our next step would be choosing the perfect vest for you. If you would describe yourself as an Urban fanatic and one drawn to large sweaters, my advice to you would be investing in oversized fur vest. To add some pop, I dare you to choose the color depending on what will work with your wardrobe best. If you wear a lot of black, try to go for some color like this Fashionista did with Guess. On the other hand, it never hurts to own a cropped vest to spice up a tighter and more sophisticated look. For the winter, I would steer clear of denim vests. But do not worry, it will be their time to shine come spring.
Although faux fur vests are the most current trend, do not shy away from other options such as a longline dress vest for an event or some fringe for a basketball game. For those of you who still want to seem fashionable while hitting the gym, I recommend you consider a quilted vest. Who likes putting on a heavy jacket after an intense workout?
Now that you’ve heard the latest on the greatest, I challenge you to fashion this week. Don’t forget your accessories and especially your smile.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid, wear it!”
