STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rock ‘n' Roll Baby

Europe tends to be a bit ahead of the fashion curve especially when it comes to silhouette. When a trend surfaces that has people saying “what are those and where can I get them?” it’s probably worth a trip to the mall, or in this case, down the street to the piazza.

This semester, a big trend that caught the eyes of many American students was this pair of effortlessly cool, slouchy culottes. Slipping into a pair of skinny jeans is great for an oversized sweater type of day, but every now and then it just feels good to switch it up. These pants are the answer.

This Fashionista pulled together a monochrome look for a rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic. Black and white striped culottes are the signature piece of her look. The flowy pants are both dressy and relaxed at once so you can throw them on with heels for a night out, or sneakers for a day walking around campus.

She kept the top of her look somewhat understated in order to let the pants do the talking. A leather motorcycle jacket with sleek asymmetrical zippers gives off vibes of tomboy chic. A fitted black top and a silver pendant necklace complement the proportions of the relaxed pants and boxy jacket.

Finally, this Fashionista chose a crossbody bag with hints of metallic and a whole lot of hardware. The chain link straps only enhance the rockstar appeal. Perhaps this is one of the rare cases when both Mick Jagger and Anna Wintour would approve.

Take a cue from this ensemble and switch up your silhouette this winter, for a refreshing change of pace. Say yes to the effortlessly cool, culottes.
