Hello fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! Now that we are nearing the end of the semester, we are also getting awfully close to the extremely cold weather. The wind has been blowing us all away every time we walk outside, sometimes to the point where we want to be hermits all day and stay indoors. Have no fear ladies, because this month I am giving you some friendly advice on how to stay warm while looking cool.
My main advice for anyone trying to dress comfortably while maintaining a high body temperature is layering. Layering is a girl’s best friend, especially when it comes to transitioning from the cold weather to what I like to call “ice age” weather. Dark clothing comes in handy especially this time of year, when you can just put whatever dark pieces that fit together to keep you warm, and then add in some elements that make the outfit really pop. Whether it be a colorful beanie, a sparkly bag, western booties or some bold makeup, whatever unique pieces you pair with a monochrome outfit will really make it stand out. This allows for some serious variation while also helping you not break the bank. By investing in some statement pieces while keeping the base of the outfit relatively the same, you can create some stellar combinations. A little creativity (and extra cash) never hurt nobody!
This Fashionista did an excellent job dressing for the weather with this ensemble. For the base she paired some black skinny jeans, black leather booties, a black leather jacket and a dark gray turtleneck together to make a uniform foundation for the outfit. The elements she added to make the outfit unique include a fur vest, some dainty silver jewelry and most importantly, a bold, red lip! Take note of the texture play present in this outfit with the different elements of fur, leather and jean which really make the ensemble aesthetically pleasing and overall different than your classic outfit. Also notice the layers in this outfit in this particular order: turtleneck, fur vest and leather jacket. All of these pieces really fit together to make the ensemble both chic and comfortable to rock.
