It’s easy to say that growing up, my “jean-jacket” was one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I wore it all the time! I was not thinking about the overall look of my outfit, especially when paired with matching jeans. Looking back, that denim on denim look was just bad, and I have been scared to wear too much denim since Justin and Britney (you know, THAT red carpet look!) With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised at the way this Fashionista pulled off more than one piece of denim at a time without her outfit becoming a “Canadian Tuxedo.”
Denim is back—more specifically, doubling up on denim is back! The key to doing this denim trend right is to mix washes and textures. This Fashionista opted for a black denim high-waisted jeans and a lighter washed denim jacket. While her jacket has lots of pockets and buttons adorning it, her jeans are simple and are streamlined by her black booties. Her jacket hem falls slightly below the rise of her jeans, which adds to the cohesiveness of the denim, which is also broken up by a contrasting top.
This Fashionista decided to celebrate the long awaited Chicago spring with a bright, pastel blue nail color. Not only is this a great pop of color, but it highlights her engagement ring. Yes, this Fashionista has been engaged to her high school sweetheart since December and is currently planning a 2017 wedding. Best of luck to her!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “One thing I would say is that when pairing jeans with booties, cuffing the bottom of your jeans is really important. It just looks clean and put together. For me, being shorter, it makes my legs look longer, especially with a high-rise jean.”
