STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simplicity is Key

In a world that changes by the second, many Fashionistas turn to elementary style in order to find peace among the chaos of their daily life. The trend of simplicity isn’t new: the minimalist art and culture movement began in the 1960s as a reaction to the madness of abstract expressionism and post-World War II America. Today, most of Generation Z is affected by a similar social frenzy driven by the constant surge of information and innovation in the digital world. As a result, fashion has matured from the glittery, glossy-lipped and Juicy Couture-dominated world of the 2000s, into the cool calm and simple look worn by this Fashionista.

When discussing minimalism, one pictures something stripped down to its bare essentials. A common method of toning down a look is to use a black and white palette. This Fashionista wears a solid white skirt and Converse, and a thinly-striped black and white tank to keep herself cool in the hot summer heat. Jewelry is also kept to minimal and subdued tones, and the black Ray-Ban sunglasses give this look a perfect, polished finish that pays tribute to its 1960s influence. It is a very practical and functional outfit which can be comfortably worn all day while walking around the city. The best part of this trend is that it highlights this Fashionista’s natural radiance rather than drowning her out with bold colors and patterns. That’s a look anyone can rock!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?  “My style advice is to always be comfortable with what you wear, but not just in the physical sense. I think it is important that you feel confident in what you’re wearing. I’m the type of person that loves trying different styles, but I make sure I always feel like me in the clothes I choose to wear.”
