In December, Iowa can be very, very cold. When the temperature drops, so do people’s fashion. For most Midwesterners, winter is about warmth, and not fashion. But, I am here to say that you can have both!
For Fashionistas/os in the Midwest, the winter months are all about warm layers. Have a pair of cute booties? Add socks! Have a cute sweater? Add a denim or leather jacket. You can even add fun hats or scarves to add that needed warmth.
This Fashionista is sporting the perfect transition look from fall to winter. In Des Moines, we don’t have much snow so it isn’t as cold, but we all know that it won’t last. She is wearing a pair of tan booties and added gray socks for the added warmth. To complete the ensemble, this Fashionista added a staple pair of dark wash jeans. Not only are they warm, but dark wash jeans are slimming. Score!
She paired the jeans with a fuzzy mock neck sweater. Mock neck sweaters are the perfect way to stay warm without looking like a marshmallow. The mock neck style is flattering on all body types and is great for the winter time. This Fashionista finished off the look with an oversized denim jacket and tousled waves. This look is a simple but trendy way to stay warm.
When there is more snow on the ground, trade the denim jacket for a winter trench coat. You can also add a blanket scarf or headband for even more warmth.  If you are in need of a warm glam look, switch out the booties for a pair of thigh-high boots, and add a leather jacket. Voila!
