Attending a school on the water in New England brings large quantities of preppy Fashionistas and Fashionistos; however, it also brings unfortunate frigid winter temperatures and winds. When the weather is as cold as it’s been, what is a prep to do? Lilly Pulitzer dresses, boat shoes and pastel pants and shorts can only take one far into the winter until they start feeling uncomfortable and, quite frankly, looking silly.
Not to worry—this Fashionisto has found the key to brightening up a bleak winter with preppy flair. He began with two wardrobe staples—a quarter zip sweatshirt from Vineyard Vines that featured bright pastel hues, and a pair of dark wash jeans. He then completed his look the way that any outfit should be completed—with layers and accessories.
Whoever said that sunglasses are only for summer clearly hadn’t met this Fashionisto (or stepped outside). Snow can be blinding, especially on an otherwise sunny day, and there’s not a more stylish way to solve a bad case of the squints than by having a fab pair of sunglasses on hand or head. This Fashionisto sported his aviator sunglasses with his black J.Crew vest and Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes to create a look that was appropriate for winter but made me crave spring even more.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “On days where I don’t feel like completely scrubbing it, but I also don’t feel like getting really dressed up, I always resort to boots, khakis and a black North Face jacket.”
