Hey there, Fashionistas. Spring has finally sprung and we are having more warm sunny days than cold. People are embracing this warm weather with open arms. One of my favorite parts about the arrival of spring is spring cleaning.
Spring cleaning means a lot of different things for different people. For example, my mother thinks it means we need to move all the furniture in our house and clean behind it. But for us Fashionistas, it takes on a whole different meaning. It means we first go through our clothes we plan to pack away to find things we can no longer fit into, we no longer need or garments that are just out of style and we can give away. Then, we go through our clothes we are unpacking for the upcoming season and do the same thing. I know that for me, there are generally a lot of clothes that I have grown out of, that have stayed in the back of my closet or that I just plain don’t want anymore. Fortunately I am the oldest of six and have way too many cousins to count, so finding someone to give away my clothes to is never too hard for me. It is the parting with the clothes I have trouble with. But for those who do not have several siblings like I do, I encourage you to donate to a charity like Salvation Army or Clothes For The Homeless.
This Fashionista was eager to tell me all about her spring cleaning plans and how she pieced together her outfit after doing a bit of rummaging around through her spring wear. She layered a loose, oversized sweater over top of a crew neck tank top with cutouts. She paired it with pink pants and cool, patterned shoes. The thing I love most about her look are the layers. I love how the bottom layer is darker so it brings your line of vision in to focus but also forces you to acknowledge her top layer. Also, the crew neck cutouts attract your eyes to the pattern of the bottom layer. It is the perfect mix between spring and winter, like I talked about last week. Most importantly, it is an effortless look. While she looks really good, it also looks casual enough to wear to class.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My spring cleaning tradition is to clean everything to the back of my closet and donate what I don’t want. We have to remember, there is always someone less fortunate out there.”
