STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Color Palette

As we make our way through spring, it is important to talk about the spring color palette. Thanks to the Pantone Color Institute, we have all of the fashion forecasting done for us. Spring 2015 consists of soft, neutral pastels that draw inspiration from floral art. Named “en plein air,” the colors are natural with warm tones that take us back to the basics. Some of the colors included are classic blue, custard, glacier gray and toasted almond.

This Fashionista’s outfit embodies the spring color palette by utilizing an overall natural and toned-down theme. Her floral print dress is in the “classic blue” color, which complements every skin tone color. The simple, floral-inspired print coincides with the “en plein air” theme and is perfect for spring. The dress is paired with a thin brown belt and some matching brown ankle strap sandals. She chose an aquamarine nail color, also from the pantone palette, and added gold rings, a bracelet and a watch. Her glowing, natural makeup paired with her wavy ombre hair further emphasizes the chic simplicity of her look. No part of the outfit includes bright colors, and it instead feels fresh and very on-trend.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Layering! This is my friend’s dress, and it is pretty boxy. By pairing it with a belt, it gives me more of a shape. Don’t feel constrained by wearing a piece just one way. I get up in the morning and put on whatever I feel like wearing that day. I decide what looks good based on how I layer it with other pieces and colors.”
