STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Step Into Spring

Springtime calls for the softest color palette. Our closets fill up with pastels like mint, lavender and light yellow so that we can match the budding flowers and sunshine around us. And even though we want to layer on all the colors we can find after a long winter, sometimes the best spring outfits come out of a touch of color and spring fever accessories.

This Fashionista knows exactly how to make a comfy and cute outfit that is perfect for this new weather. Her look mostly consists of mints, lavenders and a little touch of pink. This makes her outfit very feminine and super appropriate for the April showers and May flowers.

She starts with basic pieces like a plain white T-shirt, leggings and a mint cardigan. This keeps her outfit looking casual and comfy for class or whatever she is taking on that day. She then adds a very spring-centered statement necklace. It pulls the best pastels together and adds interest to her look.

My favorite part of this Fashionista’s look, however, is her shoes. DIY shoes have become a popular project for many college students looking to be crafty because they allow you to be creative and design your own original piece in your wardrobe. Some people have tie-dyed, and others have taken a Sharpie marker to create Aztec prints.

This Fashionista took a plain white pair of Keds and painted them with one of the most classic Lilly Pulitzer prints. Not only does the color scheme of the print match perfectly with her springtime outfit, but it is also a super trendy way to add something personal to her style.

So let your spring fever spread to your style! Take tips from this Fashionista on how to rock a DIY piece and the perfect pastel palette.
