Pull out your thrifted mom jeans and your brown lipstick because we’re taking it back to the ’90s! The ’90s gifted the world with a sense of expression, rebellion and most importantly teenaged Leonardo DiCaprio. Oddly enough, as time has progressed, more and more teens have looked to the ’90s for inspiration. They do say history tends to repeat itself. While this Fashionista just missed growing up in the ’90s, her style is very much on trend with the stellar decade.
The first thing that drew me to this Fashionista was her hair. Space buns have become ever so popular, especially on girls rocking their hair natural. It’s a unique way to dress up your hair and add dimension to your look. The third bun atop her head is something I hadn’t seen before, but I do feel it adds an extra intergalactic feel to her overall look.
Denim on denim can be overwhelming to some but this Fashionista blew it out the park. The key is to not necessarily make the denim match but to make sure their colorways are cohesive. For instance, mixing two different medium washes as she did works because the washes balance each other out.
Vintage T-shirts are a staple for everyone’s closet. Not only are they conversation starters, but they aid in creating effortless and easy outfits that look seemingly very put together. I love how this Fashionista paired her vintage T-shirt with the denim ensemble. The white T-shirt is refreshing on the all-denim look and the print adds color back into the fit.
Lastly, her shoes are to die for! I was seeping with jealousy when I peeped them. Ironically, ankle boots, which are usually a fall staple, have been on the rise since spring. While the Perspex boot trend has all but taken over the internet, this Fashionista’s boots are more Yeezy-esque. While the shape of the shoe is very ’90s, the suede fabric adds a modern touch.
Will the reign of the nineties ever end? As if!
