STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Suede, Shade And The '70s

It’s my favorite time of year here in State College. It’s finally starting to get warm and sunny, and that means so many new trends will start to make appearances around campus. What I’ve been noticing lately is that people seem to be channeling the ’70s. Whether it is round sunglasses, flared jeans, peasant tops or suede everything, I’ve been seeing it all!

This time of year also means that festival season is coming up, and this ’70s, hippie trend is perfect to try out at music festivals! Coachella is a great example of a music festival where we will see a lot of these ’70s fashion trends emerging.

This Fashionista is pulling off the ’70s look perfectly. Let’s start with her sunglasses. I write about sunglasses a lot in my posts, but I think that they are an essential accessory to have especially for the spring and summer! Her round colored sunglasses are perfect for walking around campus or even attending a music festival.

Now, let’s highlight my favorite part of her look: her suede skirt. Suede is a huge trend right now, especially in skirts and dresses. I love suede because it looks simple, yet the texture makes it look a little nicer when you may be trying to dress up. The best part about suede is that you can dress it up or dress it down. This Fashionista may have been wearing this skirt to class, but she can easily pull this off when she’s out with friends or at a concert.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Trends that have happened in different time periods usually find their way back into current fashion, so I love looking at fashion from my parent’s time. Sometimes I even find myself digging through their closets to find new pieces to wear!”
