As September comes to an end and October approaches, it becomes the perfect time to break out sweaters and boots; however, we are still transitioning from summer to fall weather. I know here in New Jersey it is hot and humid one day and the next day there is a cool breeze rolling through campus. If you are a busy college student like myself, your outfit must be able to adapt to the changing weather.
In order to accommodate the changing weather, we must utilize both our favorite summer and fall fashion pieces. This means breaking out your fun colored cropped tops and sandals for a few more weeks, but also pulling your favorite skinny jeans and jackets out from hibernation.
In this look, this Fashionista has done just that. She paired her favorite pale blue crop top with some black mid-rise jeans. I love this color combination because it is still fun and expresses carefree summer vibes, while the black jeans make it very appropriate for the upcoming cooler months. In order to make the crop top fall appropriate, this Fashionista added a light jacket. She kept this jacket neutral in order to highlight the pale blue color of the crop top. The floppy neckline on the jacket is a nice contrast to the simple scoop neck of the crop top.
In terms of accessories, she is still wearing her summer sandals. Sandals, when paired with jeans, are still perfectly appropriate for the chillier months. I love these ones because they are thick and strappy, a huge shoe trend this past season. The shoes also complement her crop top perfectly, helping to balance out all the black.
When you are a busy student who is always on the go, a large tote bag like the one this Fashionista is carrying is a must-have for the season. This one is fashionable and also functional. I recommend buying a simple, but large leather tote in a neutral color. It can be used for fashion purposes but can also carry heavy textbooks and your laptop when going to class.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Do not be afraid to style your outfits with colors that aren’t necessarily on-trend for that specific season. A summer color, like this baby blue, can easily work styled into a fall outfit.”
