Waking up on the first day of spring is cathartic. Finally, the brutal baron winter months are over. I imagine it’s similar to how Cinderella felt when those birds fluttered around her while sewing her into her dress. Your outfit has got to live up to this current mood. Finding the perfect first warm weather look will set the tone for the rest of the semester, so getting out of bed this morning shouldn’t be quite as difficult. You walk out the front door in good sunny spirits and…you step into three very unexpected inches of snow. The Northeast was in shambles this summer solstice and there were many climate confused outfits. No need to stress, as Fashionistas we know how to improvise. Instead of changing back into that tired and over worn winter wardrobe you can still keep the summery vibes alive by making a few quick changes.
Before this Fashionista witnessed the snow, she was rocking this cool T-shirt, leggings and simple black flats. Once she got a glimpse of the sudden snow storm she was quick on her feet and pieced together this weather appropriate look. While still wanting to show off this fun graphic T-shirt, she grabbed a super warm wool cardigan that would shield the cold but still complement the outfit nicely. While indoors, she tied it around her waist to keep the easy breezy spring feeling in the air, and then bundled up to walk from class to class. Knowing her black flats wouldn’t cut it, she quickly grabbed a cute pair of combats that were both functional and fashionable. They paired perfectly with these fun striped leggings that transition nicely from winter into spring.
Just because your day doesn’t turn out the way you planned, doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it. Using your wordrobe to lift your spirits and pump up your day is the perfect way to survive these bitter winter months. I will admit, however, that I’m still pretty bitter that a certain groundhog lied to all of us.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Graphic T-shirts are a great way to add a cool element to your outfit while staying super comfortable. You can dress them up or dress them down. They are a really fun and versatile way to bring something extra to your outfit.”
