There are some things that each season just isn’t complete without, and winter is no exception. To me, winter just doesn’t feel right without hot cocoa, a crackling fire, hope for a snow day and a warm sweater to fend off the cold. Sometimes, getting ready on those cold mornings before 8 a.m. classes, I want nothing more than to throw on a warm, frumpy sweater and call it a day. Cold winter weather can be uninspiring when it comes to getting dressed for the day. As such, it’s almost too perfect that fashion’s recent obsession with knits has surpassed just sweaters. It can be seen in every article of clothing imaginable, from crop tops to leggings to jewelry giving us endless options to stay both cozy and trendy.
This Fashionista shows us the perfect way to pull all of these knit separates into an outfit without looking cluttered or lumpy. She keeps her focus on texture throughout her outfit, layering well-cut pieces in similar, simple textures to give her look shape and structure. She starts with a light, airy, knit top, keeping the inner layer light to prevent bulk and staying warm by pairing it with a thicker knit cardigan. The menswear-inspired boxy fit and sharp lines of her cardigan contrast the knit material to give a blazer-like look to a piece that can otherwise look tired or misshapen. A joyful tartan scarf adds color and softness. Her slouchy, glittery socks echo the marled grey in her cardigan, pulling the look together from top to bottom. She polishes off her outfit with pointed-toe black leather booties that give her whole look a sharp edge.
