Weekends in Chicago are meant for roaming around the city. Weather permitting, weekends in the summer give us a chance to explore unknown areas and also pull off fun fashion. When dressing for certain occasions, fashion and trends are not always at the top of the list; however, always dress for the unexpected. Especially for unplanned city days, having weekend wear that can possibly transition from day to night is always helpful.
Weekend attire is typically casual, but that does not mean that it needs to be boring. So how should we dress for the weekend? This Fashionista gives a perfect example! She chose one statement piece and built her outfit around it. She chose a classic jeans and sandals combo, but brought the outfit to life with this white sweater with a neon print.
We’ve seen a shift in trends from last summer to this summer, specifically with prints and patterns. Last year printed skirts (bodycon or maxi) were all the rage, but this year things seem to be shifting more towards printed T-shirts and sweaters. Many fall 2015 designer collections incorporated the patterned tops, which made it easier to transition this fad into summer attire.
To keep herself handsfree but still able to carry all the essentials, this Fashionista went for a cross-body bag in a complementary color to the rest of the outfit (cross-body bags are both functional and this summer’s “must-have” accessory). Keeping the outfit rather simple gave her room to play around with colorful accessories.
The weather may not be warm enough for shorts or sundresses, but that doesn’t hinder this Fashionista from having a great day in the city. She’s got her sunglasses on and she’s ready for an adventure!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Be comfortable in what you’re wearing and always bring a practical bag that you can use to hold everything.”
