Sometimes pursuing a popular trend can be daunting, intimidating even. In every magazine you pick up or in every fashion-related article you see online, you will most likely see something about said trend, along with a flawless photo of a statuesque celebrity or an eclectic blogger effortlessly rocking the trend. In a world where social media rules the nation, it is so easy to get caught up in the fact that we will never have the “perfect outfit” or we will never rock the trend as well as the blogger we see in a magazine. But, to be honest that is not what fashion is about. Fashion is about self expression and celebrating each individuals interpretation of what they are seeing in the industry. Fashion doesn’t have to be perfect, and that is one of the most beautiful things about it.
In terms of an individual’s interpretation of a trend, this Fashionista expressed to me her absolute obsession with the lace-up trend that has been taking over the blogosphere as of late. As she gushed to me about her love for the trend, she was not hesitant to mention her previous apprehension before giving the trend a real shot for herself. She expressed that while she did love the trend upon first glance, originally everyone she saw in the trend was taking a more sexy or nighttime appropriate approach to the look. Her hesitation to give the look a try stemmed because quite frankly that just was just not her style.
For a while she said she gave up on the look herself and admired from afar, until she spotted the top that changed it all at her local Urban Outfitters. To her, the floral top she is wearing is the perfect thing to combine her sweet style with a little bit of edge. The soft pastel florals preserve that girly vibe that this Fashionista thrives on. The short sleeves keep it very daytime appropriate while still staying true to the lace up trend that is sweeping the nation. To complete the look she decided to pair the top with her favorite denim skirt and her feminine pink tote, both also from Urban Outfitters.
