Every girl needs a little yin to balance out the yang in her life.
The other day I was perusing my (tiny) New York temporary housing closet in search of an outfit that was casual-cool with a hint of NYC nerve. As I sifted through my feminine get-ups and countless amounts of four-inch pumps, I realized I don’t have enough balance in my wardrobe that would allow me to truly transition from fiercely feminine to whatever mood I feel like showing the world. As a solution to my style stagnation, I vowed to venture out and be a bit more adventurous with my personal fashion picks.
Enter this Fashionista a few days later whom I caught strolling by the World Trade Center. Her look screamed effortlessly cool and I couldn’t stop myself from asking her about her taste in hopes of walking away with a few tips to use on my own.
Taking inspo from the boys, she rejected the notion fashion that is singly gendered. Pairing neutral tones together, her denim jeans and cap from the men’s department added just the right amount of relaxed fit to match her casual demeanor. Her classic white blouse was a perfect addition to the outfit; further proving this everyday basic is an all-around closet gem. Finally her tan Nike kicks added the perfect amount of commuter-comfort that is always needed in the city.
