If you live on the East Coast, you know that the weather can’t seem to make up its mind. If you are like me, you’ve been bouncing between your spring and winter apparel, sometimes even mixing both. It’s definitely a tease when you dig at the bottom of your drawer for those denim cut-offs, but then realize your legs haven’t seen sunlight in months. Oh, and the big question you have been avoiding, “Do they still fit?” Personally, I have been putting that off and just tend to wear leggings during this in-between weather, since they’re light weight and always in season.
A pattern that is popular from this year’s Fashion Week runways is camouflage. Camouflage was used by the military to help the soldiers blend into their surroundings, but in fashion it makes you stand out. When I wear or see other women wear camouflage, it gives them a sense of power; ready to give orders and battle the day. This Fashionista’s camouflage jacket is one that does not blend into its surroundings. The hint of blue adds a different spin on the classic camo pattern, making it more eye-catching. It is also a perfect in-between jacket for this weather.
Also, this Fashionista wears black pieces underneath to make the jacket the center of attention. The crop-top is perfect for a sunny, low ’70s with a mild breeze, where the jacket comes in hand. The black leggings, as I said, work best since no one wants to pull out those cut-offs just yet. The Fashionista then rocks white high-top Converses and Ray-Ban aviators to complete the look.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be scared to mix and match your spring and winter pieces. It’s fun playing with different types of clothing. Try out patterns that have a twist, like this jacket. Don’t let the weather win the battle when figuring out what to wear!”
