Flashback: It’s 2000 and adorable (if I do say so myself), little ole me is strutting, or stumbling (very subjective), around the house in some stylish, one inch, glass, kitten heels courtesy a la Pretty, Pretty Princess. Not going to lie, I miss that game. Angry Birds just isn’t cutting it….
Now, while I, a sassy, four-year-old, up-and-coming Style Guru was clacking around like I owned the place, my less cool (again, very subjective) infant brother was stealing all the attention. Hello, my super trendy get-up should have attracted way more eyes (and applause) than some meaningless first steps…get your priorities straight people!
I’m sure you can guess that I was way too poised to blatantly show my distaste via tantrum, hissy fit or physical violence during my baby brother’s 15 minutes of fame. But, oh boy was I angry. So, in typical bratty fashion, I just rolled my eyes over, and over, and over, and over and over again. But, guess what, no one even knew! Why you might ask? Well, because I had super trendy, super cool, super bedazzled, hot pink, thick framed, glamorous sunglasses to hide my eyes. Also supplied by Pretty, Pretty Princess (no judging)!
Now, while I have since traded in my hot pink frames, I still believe that every outfit, every day and every occasion warrants sunglasses. Whether you’re inside, outside, around town or in the rain, sunglasses are ALWAYS a must. You never when they can come in handy (see above).
This Fashionista is 100 percent in cahoots with four-year-old me. Although, I must say that her Dolce Vita, lace-up sandals are just a tad more fashion-forward than my Hasbro heels.
Her ripped jeans perfectly complemented her graphic top. Ripped jeans are a great investment; they’re perfect for every season and have the ability to totally transform any coupling of clothes into a definitive look. Here, the rips enhance the grunge aspect of the graphic shirt, whereas plain jeans would have pushed this Fashionista towards a more polished vibe. Basically, this Fashionista’s ensemble would not have been nearly as trendy sans the rips.
Her black and gold Clubmaster Browline Sunglasses truly made this outfit fit for a queen (she one up-ed my princess status). Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory, but choose carefully! Round face? Opt for some aviators. Oval face? Go with a butterfly frame. Square? I recommend the cat-eye.
Sunglasses can seriously give your outfit a cohesive finish. Aviators will make your outfit look more bohemian, and big, round, circle shades will make any look seem timeless. Make sure you pick a pair that feels right to you because the right pair can get you through anything!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Whenever I’m having a bad hair day, I ALWAYS just put a pair of sunglasses on top of my head! It totally hides the mess!”
