When you attend fashion school, going to class day-to-day is about learning, of course, but it’s also a chance to show off your best looks. I don’t know about you, but if I have a day without a class in Rockwell and a really good outfit there’s a good chance I will hold off wearing it until I know I’ll be in Rockwell. This Fashionista made the excellent choice of wearing an uber cool casual look showcasing her silk track jacket.
Pulling off sportswear as casual wear takes a certain level of confidence. And girls who successfully execute this style always seem to create envy. There’s something so undeniably cool about it. It draws attention without being overtly attention grabbing. The delicate balance it shows between an understanding of current fashion trends and casual comfort is fascinating to me. There’s something so high fashion yet so accessible about it. As much as I dislike the word swag, girls who pull off this sort of look have an unquestionable amount.
This Fashionista formed the basis of her outfit with wardrobe staples–simple black pants, a white V-neck and all-white Converse. What stands out is the track jacket. Fashion is at such an interesting place right now. Streetwear, or sportswear as some prefer to call it, can be just as luxurious as high-end designers. High fashion is infatuated with luxury streetwear, shown in the rapid growth and popularity of brands like Hood By Air and Public School. Even household name brands like adidas, are doing high-end collaborations with some of fashion’s most elite–such as Raf Simons X adidas.
The combination of simple pants, a T-shirt, a track jacket and all-white sneakers is so nonchalant. The addition of the large, dark sunglasses is the perfect way to incorporate even more edge to this look. It’s a style I appreciate a lot, but wouldn’t wear myself. One of the things I love most about fashion is that you can still respect looks you wouldn’t want to necessarily wear yourself.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to mix textures of my outfit to add variation to my look. I thought a silk track jacket went well with my pebbled yet still smooth leather converse, then I balance it with some harsher textures like my metallic spike necklace.”
