Yes, it’s March, but no, it’s still not spring. However, fashion month is upon us, which is the only good thing about this awkward it’s-March-but-still-snowing weather. As the most glamorous time of year comes to an end in Paris, I finally have some free time to review all of the collections, including those from the spring/summer 2015 shows.
One of my favorite spring 2015 collections would definitely have to be Gucci spring ready-to-wear. I fell absolutely in love with the lightweight trench coats, white on white outfits and full denim pieces that the models sported on the runway. Although it is still too cold to rock the latter two around campus, I spotted this Fashionista in a wool blend trench, a warmer spin on Gucci’s thin suede look.
I love a neutral-colored overcoat; it gives the wearer more opportunity to add pops of color to his or her outfit. Alessandro Michele dressed his trench coat wearing models in thin printed satin scarves, which would be completely appropriate for the springtime. However since it’s still snowing (will it ever stop?) this Fashionista opted for a thick pinkish red winter scarf to keep her warm and add a very appropriate pop of color to her khaki-colored coat.
Trench coats can either be dressed up or kept casual. Their versatility is an extremely attractive trait, because you don’t have to go buying 100 different coats for every outfit. Now that Gucci showed the world that trenches can be worn both in the spring and winter, I definitely want to test drive the trend.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When you’re shopping for a coat, make sure you keep the long term in mind! You don’t want to have to keep buying expensive outerwear over and over again. Find something that you know will match almost anything and will last you a while.”
