“You’re hot then you’re cold, you’re yes then you’re no.” That’s how us South Carolinians feel about the weather these days. It’s been raining, hot, cold, sunny and it’s been humid. South Carolina has been just about everything these past few months. One would say, “That’s cool, Mother Nature, you do you,” but as Fashionista’s it really makes things a little more difficult for us. Thank God, however, vests have come to the rescue in full force this winter!
Vests have been a trend for the past few seasons. We’ve seen everything from fur vests to denim vests. They’ve basically become a staple item for everyone’s closet. Not only do they keep you a little extra warm, but they can also be seen as an accessory. It’s a two for one, really. (There’s your justification for splurging on that must-have vest next shopping trip). Lately we’ve seen a lot of fuzzy vests and suede vests. Some have fringe details and others have a nice drape to them. Everyone is seriously vying for the best vest this season.
How do you wear a vest without over-killing the entire look? This Fashionista wears all neutral tones giving her a really mature, sophisticated look while wearing a trendy outfit. She pairs her fuzzy vest with black denim and a simple black sweater. This leaves the focus to her vest. It’s not overwhelming at all and she definitely is staying warm while trekking to class. Simple gold jewelry and a wool hat are perfect accessories and add a nice accent to the outfit.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish. Mix and match different colors and layers to pull your outfit completely together for a chic look.”
