STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Warm Winter Woes

I don’t know about you, but I always kind of look forward to cooler weather. True, everything is better with a tan—but there’s nothing quite like cuddling up in cozy sweaters and wrapping your hands around a seasonal latte. Winter means ice skating, snowmen and finally breaking out those perfect warm layers you got on sale at the beginning of summer that you have been hoarding in preparation (or is that just me?). That is unless it’s a year like this one and you’re in a T-shirt at the beginning of December.

Just because the weather won’t cooperate with your winter wonderland fantasies doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be sad, you can still look festive without the frostbite. Instead of smothering yourself in chunky cable knit, try cotton or light cashmere blends. That way, you can still rock some winter layers (without sweating off your foundation). Try pieces in neutrals and jewel tones for a festive look that will work long after the holidays have passed. While it’s no substitute for a snowball fight, it will ensure you still look cute and cozy sipping your peppermint mocha.

Follow in this Fashionista’s suit and rock breezy layers in seasonal shades. Her patterned Free People blouse pairs perfectly with dark skinnies and over-the-knee boots for a look that’s both winter and weather appropriate. She tops it off with minimal makeup, delicate jewelry and a boho tassel bag; making this a look versatile enough for dinner with the family or a night out with the girls.
