The wedge design dates all the way back to ancient Greece, with the first modern designs appearing in the ’30s. Recently, they started making a comeback in women’s fashion. Wedge sandals are a good alternative to heels because they give you that added height, while the platforms allow for steadier comfort.
I’m a huge fan of wedges because you could honestly pair them with anything. Be it cocktail dresses or the oldest pair of jeans, you’ll still look classy. Being tragically 5’2″, I find any possible way to get a couple inches. Classic stilettos won’t do me any good when I have a long walk ahead of me, but at least wedges would let me last for a bit longer. It’s time for me to switch out my winter pumps for these shoes that will actually let my feet breathe. It’ll be a refreshing transition.
This Fashionista opted for a light peach and white color palette, evoking a fun summer vibe to her outfit. The peach crop top complements the floral pattern of her skater skirt. To top it off, the platform wedge sandals make the look ideal for a casual summer evening. Since I took her photo later in the afternoon, it was a little windy, so it was good that this Fashionista came prepared. Her deep red cardigan bring out the subtle red tones of her skirt. All in all, she just looks fresh and ready to take on the world.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love feeling taller. Wedges help me reach that goal. And they’re more comfortable than regular heels!”
