STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: You're So 2000

Break out your denim Fashionistas/os; You’ll need it this spring! Let’s take a time machine back to 2001 when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore denim from head to toe to the American Music Awards. Fifteen years later and these very trends make another appearance. Denim on denim seems to be a fad restarted by celebrities and is making its way toward college campuses. Now that spring is in full effect here in New Jersey, denim is a perfect way to look good without trying that hard.

This Fashionista’s outfit is highlighted with medium wash, high-waisted jeans and a vintage, boyfriend-fit style jean jacket. This two-tone color scheme has cohesiveness along with a punk rock feel. The grunge style of this Fashionista’s outfit also brings back some ’90s vibes; All she needs are a flannel and choker and she could be mistaken for a teen in the 20th century. Just by having these staple items, like the denim jacket and Dr. Martens in your wardrobe, they will make any outfit look effortless and very trendy.

The practicality of denim throughout the spring is definitely also something considerably beneficial because the weather seems to fluctuate throughout the day. Denim is light enough to wear on a sunny day, yet durable enough to wear on a windy day. Either way, denim on denim is something you will definitely see people rock more often around campus.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t listen to anyone who says you can’t wear denim with denim. You can wear whatever you want as long as you feel good in it. Channel your inner 90s child and complete this look with a choker and flannel.”
