Style advice number one: never be afraid to try new trends. When new trends arise take it and make it your own. A new trend this Fashionista is strutting is a monochromatic outfit. I absolutely love this trend and have been seeing it more and more on Pinterest, Instagram, and multiple well-known fashion magazines. Something I love about this trend is its versatility. You can create a monochromatic outfit for any style or occasion, whether your style is sporty and your occasion is working out, or your style is feminine and your occasion is going out with the girls. You can apply this trend to any outfit.
There are many ways you can manipulate this trend. You can simply pick one shade of a color and have every piece be just that color to make it extremely monochromatic, or you can pick a color and play around with different shades throughout the outfit. Like I said before, make it your own! Personally, my favorite way to wear a monochromatic outfit is to have different shades of one color. I also love the way this Fashionista styled her outfit by picking one color and incorporating it into all of her pieces. As you can see, she chose a dark blue for her main color choice. The jeans she chose used that one color then her sweater, booties, and earrings all incorporated that one color.
Sometimes the color makes a big difference in how you select the kind of monochromatic look you are wanting. For example, if you want to create a monochromatic outfit using bright red as your main color you might want to do an outfit like this Fashionista and incorporate your color in all the pieces instead of making every piece a flat out bright red. If your main color is black, that color is one that is easier to pull off when wearing every piece the same exact color. My favorite colors to use for monochromatic outfits are black, gray, and blue. But of course, make it your own! Here are suggestions of a sweater, a pair of booties, and earrings that I think would be amazing pieces to begin the basis of three different monochromatic outfits!
