While the winter months are still continuously cold, why not make your outfit a little bit bright? Adding a pop of color to your outfit is not only a statement but it makes any look a little more fun. This Fashionista added a bit of pastel pink to a dark, neutral outfit. Her bright pop of color gave me a little spark of inspiration.
This Fashionista decided to pair a pastel pink button up underneath of her dark burgundy sweater. She also paired the top and sweater with a pair of dark wash jeans and black Chelsea boots. Since the rest of her outfit was very dark, adding this pastel top makes the look a little livelier.
Her outfit even inspired me to look further into this trend of pastels, by looking into the trends of New York Fashion Week S/S 17. I noticed that using pastels, especially pink, is very popular right now. While there are always many neutral colors on the runways, I noticed a lot of brighter colors as well. This trend reflects some of the pastels used in collections like alice & olivia, Banana Republic, and Hermès. All of these collections have a variety of pastels and even have pastel pinks throughout.
A few of my favorite ways I’ve seen this trend styled, specifically throughout New York Fashion Week, is in things like coats, dresses, and tops. This trend can also be added to garments through things like embroidery or stitching. Embroidery is being forecasted as a huge trend for the upcoming season, so I think it would be super cute to see pops of color throughout the embroidery on garments.
This trend is definitely something that can be used throughout the winter and be carried throughout spring and summer as well! While you can use it in things like long sleeve button ups and jumpsuits now, you can easily trade those for dresses and T-shirts when the warmer months arrive.
