One of my favorite ways to style an outfit is by playing with texture. I find that my most loved pieces in my closet have a fun feel to them. However, it can be hard to rock mixed textures without it looking too eclectic. So, when I spotted this Fashionista strutting her play on textures, IÂ had to approach her.
We’re lucky enough to live in sunny San Diego where the weather is constantly accommodating. As you can see, this Fashionista’s only warmth came from her velvet booties and her oversize, denim jacket. Her layering of these two pieces added that winter feel in a sunny environment. Her ability to put together unique pieces that are not typically worn together, had me looking twice.
When you break it down, all these pieces can be worn individually for all types of occasions. The jean jacket could be thrown over leggings and a band T-shirt. The velvet booties could be paired with a nighttime look. The leather skirt could be worn with sneakers. However, combining the texture of the leather skirt, with the jean jacket and the pink, velvet booties gave her this all around, edgy look. Playing with accessories, this Fashionista kept it simple with some bracelets and a pair of sunnies.
I absolutely loving being stopped in my tracks by Fashionistas/os with outfit masterpieces. Walking around campus becomes such great inspiration for my own outfit decisions. Fortunately enough, I found a Fashionista as interested in textures as I am. Never feel afraid to mix and match your favorite pieces in your closet. You might just be starting your own trends!
