Fashion should always be fun. Taking the latest trend and adapting it to your personal style is what keeps it interesting. There are so many different ways to express yourself: leather, suede, fringe, high tops and chokers. The runway trends are often a reflection of the designer’s style aesthetic, but also their interpretation of the political, cultural, and social climate. Fashion can be witty and serious.
Pick out a couple trends that you like, then play with them. Fashion is an art and it’s fun to experiment. Sometimes I just pull one trend whether it’s a color, shape, new style of jacket, or shoe. Then, I incorporate it into an outfit that I feel comfortable with just to make it feel fresher, but also my own. Regarding the outfit this Fashionista is wearing, I love that she has worn a few trends: fringe, suede, and chokers. She combined them with a timeless essential, the ubiquitous jean jacket in a unique and fun way for daytime. For me, the gray skirt is a more approachable way to wear the fringe trend.
If you lose the denim jacket and added high booties, it would easily cross into nighttime wear. If I were wearing this outfit at night, I would also change my makeup a bit and maybe add a cuff. If you live somewhere with a bone chilling winter climate, throw on a faux fur coat instead of the denim jacket as well as wear a pair of nude tights. When you’re figuring out how to work a trend, remember pick your pieces carefully and put your own twist on them!
