Thrift shopping may seem very unappealing to some people because it is used clothes and not necessarily carrying the latest trends. I, myself, was judgmental toward thrift shops at first, until I actually went into one and found some very stylish pieces to add to my wardrobe. If you take the time to look through all of the racks you can find some fashion treasures. Vintage and worn clothing is trending right now, but is being sold for outrageous prices. You can go and get the same look for way cheaper, and the apparel is authentic. A lot of companies are remaking old trends that are not truly vintage pieces.
Another great thing about thrift shops is how cheap they are, so you don’t have to feel as bad about experimenting with different items. Personally I like to go find different vintage T-shirts or old jeans and make them my own by distressing them, or adding embellishments. The jeans at thrift shops are perfect for making cut-off, high-waisted shorts.
What caught my eye about this Fashionista was her ability to put together a very unique, yet stylish look all from a thrift shop. The jeans she is wearing are considered boyfriend jeans and are very trendy right now. She paired the jeans with a classic V-neck T-shirt, and then topped it off with an oversize, paisley jacket. The jacket gives the plain outfit a pop of color and print. To finish off the outfit, the Fashionista is wearing work boots and a pair of clear-framed glasses. Overall, her look is modern with a vintage twist.
All in all, my advice is to be more optimistic when it comes to thrift shops, because you never know what you are going to find. It is a fun experience and a great way to get creative with your style!
