Paris is regarded as one of the world’s top four fashion capitals, and spread throughout the city are many fashion boutiques. The unique style of the French woman is one that has always been admired. Regardless of however this style may be defined, we can agree that there is something trés chic about the Parisian woman. What enthralls me about French fashion is the simplicity of it all. A Parisian’s wardrobe is easy to achieve as it has a simple, elegant and monochromatic theme. So for all you Fashionistas stuck in a rut, when you have an 8 AM class and don’t know what outfit to wear, think like a Parisian!
I must admit that although I love a monochromatic outfit, whenever my outfit truly starts to look that way, I always inevitably think that I want to boldly add color. Yet, this time I stopped myself and went for it.
My outfit is inspired by Rachel Zoe’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection, and coincidentally enough her collection is inspired by the ’60s and her love for French ingenues of that era. Her collection included boxy striped sweaters and black wide-legged leather pants. For my look, I kept the striped sweater, but I replaced the leather pants for black distressed boyfriend jeans. To finish off the ensemble, I added a black fedora hat.
This fall 2014 show eased my mind and showed me that it is okay to keep it simple and stay within one color. The result is perfectly balanced as it is not boring nor is it too much. It is a bold and elegant way of dressing, and therefore I am going to keep incorporating this trend more often in the future.
