As a valley girl from Los Angeles, I, Cynthia Kim, would have never imagined moving to the East Coast and leaving sunny California behind for the bustling city of Boston. As a sophomore at Harvard University, I am beyond excited to begin my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Being a part of the CollegeFashionista team has allowed me to meet new people, experience incredible things and have a lot of fun!
Coming from the valley, I would have described my style as laid back, chill and fun. My go-to outfit consisted of tank tops and flip flops. However, going to college on the East Coast did have an effect on my fashion. I have come to adore cardigans and boots, and even wear the occasional scarf! My style has now become a mixture of the two worlds: a sensible East Coast style with a laid-back West Coast attitude.
The East Coast influence on my outfit above consists of a simple off-the-shoulder dress, black sandals and a lovely cream-colored purse. My California style comes in the form of the bright, turquoise statement necklace as well as my brightly painted nails. Overall, this look gives off a classy yet chill vibe, an outfit that is the perfect piece for the transition from summer to fall.
As a CollegeFashionista Style Guru, I will be working to share the awesome and unique diversity in fashion right here on Harvard’s campus. With Harvard being home to students all across the globe, I am sure that I will be inspired by everyone I meet throughout this process. Be sure to check out my articles each month for a peek at the latest and greatest in college fashion!
