Hello, my name is Ilyssa! I am a New York native and senior at Baruch College, where I am studying Communications and English. This semester, I have the opportunity to spend six months in Tel Aviv, Israel on a student exchange at Tel Aviv University. So, instead of New York, my fashion posts will come from the Middle East! My interest in fashion came about as a result of my love of expression. I love art and writing, and I view style as another representation of one’s state of mind. Also, living in a world fashion capital didn’t hurt in influencing my fascination with style either!
My move from the suburbs of NYC into the city itself was definitely the defining moment of my style transition. I quickly recognized how different the city’s style was in comparison to the suburbs and was so inspired! I love how a location’s dynamic culture impacts style.
My personal style would best be described as edgy and minimalistic, but I do also enjoy mixing it up. My absolute favorite piece of clothing I own would be my asymmetrical, black leather jacket. For the summer, my perfect outfit would include a denim skirt, paired with a graphic T-shirt, sneakers and a cute pair of sunglasses. I also would most likely have either a camera or ice cream cone in my hand: two summer essentials.
I can’t wait to write for CollegeFashionista this semester because it will give me the opportunity to showcase the style of Israeli Fashionistas, and I will tell you that their style is chic! I look forward to seeing how my style evolves as I get inspiration from this vibrant city. My camera is charged and I am ready, so let’s see what the fashion-savy of Tel Aviv have to offer!
